What Mercury in Sagittarius means

Mercury stands for mind, language, learning and exchange. In Sagittarius, a mobile fire sign under Jupiter, he is associated with optimism, vision and the search for meaning. Classically, Mercury is in exile here because it is opposite its own sign, Gemini. This doesn't mean that you think worse, but rather differently: in broad arcs instead of in details.

This is how you think with Mercury in Sagittarius

You see the big picture. Where others get lost in details, you see the common thread and the meaning behind it. You are fascinated by philosophy, religion, travel and other cultures.

Your thinking is optimistic and future-oriented. You believe in possibilities and infect others with your enthusiasm.

On the other hand, you quickly get bored with exact numbers, small print and routine work.

This is how you speak

You speak openly, honestly and with a lot of humor. You enjoy telling stories, often with vivid imagery and exaggerations that make them even better.

Your directness is refreshing, but can also seem clumsy. Sometimes you tell a truth before you have thought about whether the other person wants to hear it.

Learning and decision making

You learn best when you understand what something is good for. Travel, conversations with people from other countries and big contexts bring knowledge to life for you. You make decisions quickly and with conviction, sometimes without checking all the details.

Mercury in Sagittarius in love

In love, you value conversations about life, plans for shared adventures, and lots of laughter. Honesty is important to you, even if it is uncomfortable.

At the same time, the opposite sign Gemini can attract you. People with wit and a sense of detail complement your big-picture perspective. How you love, on the other hand, is shown by your Venus, for example Venus in Sagittarius, and how you desire and act, your Mars, for example Mars in Sagittarius.

Mercury in Sagittarius at work

In your career you have tasks with meaning and breadth: teaching, university, publishing, travel, law, international cooperation or coaching. You like to impart knowledge and values. Tight guidelines and detailed controls slow you down.

Where things can get difficult

Your big-picture view can lead to details being overlooked. You sometimes promise more than you can deliver, or are so convinced of your point of view that other opinions are given little space.

The task of this position is to combine foresight with care and to speak one's own truth with consideration.
